Visit the RFDS Alice Springs Tourist Facility & Museum - see, experience and learn through the wonder of technology as this facilitiy brings history to life. Enjoy the heroic tales of the birth and growth of the RFDS. Learn about the history and the activities of the RFD's pilots, engineers, doctors and nurses, and the experiences of the patients that are carried and cared for each day.A truly amazing experience is the NEW life size hologram of John Flynn the Founder of the Flying Doctor Service telling his story of the birth and growth of the RFDS, experience the Virtual Reality and the emotional journeys of the RFDS, interactive story telling mini ghosts. Meet Alf Traeger and Nurse Kathy who answer selected questions from a touch panel, a replica RFDS Pilatus PC 12 aircraft that allows visitors inside the aircraft and experience a fully aero medically equipped fitout, the pedal radio, invented by Alf Traeger and used by people of the Outback, see the original communications room, touch and learn for adults, touch, play and learn for the kids, story boards that provide very informative reading of the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The 'Doc Shop' retail store within the Tourist Facility sells a wide range of souvenirs, books, clothing, jewellery, gifts and DVDs.

The RFDS Alice Springs Tourist Facility & Museum is a non-profit organisation, with 100% of all profits made from tours and the Doc Shop go straight to the replenishment of aircraft and medical equipment.

Tours run every half an hour from 9.30am-4pm (last tour 3.30pm) and are also available for Coach Groups; Coach Groups must be booked in advanced by email reservations@flyingdoctor.net or phone (08) 8958 8411 to talk to one of our helpful reservation staff.
